The event runs from 6pm. There are various caterers and a fun fair which run throughout the evening with the main Fireworks Display at 7:30pm.  Attendance figures in previous years average around 8000 people from all age groups, for what is truly a great family event.

This 'Fireworks Spectacular' is now in its 37th year and as always is still arranged on a totally voluntary basis by the members of Southend Round Table 106. Planning and organisation of the event takes 10 months to put together, mainly over many late night meetings throughout the year. This year will see a 30 minute musically choreographed display releasing thousands of pounds of fireworks into the night sky culminating with a spectacular finale sequence, all fired by our specialist pyrotechnics organiser and supplier Starburst Displays. Last year's spectacular raised in excess of £21,000 primarily for the benefit of local charitable causes.

Full details of the recipients can be found on our Beneficiaries page.

Display History
Southend Round Table's 'Big Beach Bang' is our main fundraising event of the year.

The display has a long history in Southend dating back over 35 years, originating in 1970 at Roots Hall Football Stadium. It remained at Roots Hall until 1986 when it moved to Southchurch Park East. The display rapidly outgrew this venue and in 1993 was forced to move again; this time to Gunners Park in Shoeburyness where it remained until 2004.

In 2005 we saw the most recent relocation of the display to it's latest and largest venue; Shoeburyness East Beach, where we saw another record fundraising year.

The display is solely organised by the members of Southend Round Table 106 and is run totally voluntarily.  It boasts to be one of the largest amateur displays in the South East of Essex together with a Fun Fair, Food Stalls and many other attractions and despite the ever growing competition from many free and commercial displays, ours continues to go from strength to strength.

Planning for each event takes around 10 months of regular evening meetings, culminating in a hectic final week of organisation which truly demonstrates what can be achieved if we have the determination and motivation.  Each year around 8000 people attend the massive Fireworks Spectacular, raising in excess of £20,000 for the benefit of primarily local charities and organisations.  All of the net proceeds from the event are donated to worthy causes, details of our beneficiaries can be found on our Beneficiaries page.

The high profile of the display within the Southend area has meant that it has attracted many significant sponsors throughout the years with such names as Barratt Homes, Natwest Bank, Mobile Phone Centre, Waitrose, First Data Recourses, c2c, Echo Newspapers, Tarn Print, Steve's Vehicle Hire, Regis Direct, Morley's Nurseries to name just a few but, we are always looking to add to the prestigious list.  If you feel your company would like to be involved in supporting our event please contact us for full details of our sponsorship packages.
