Great care and planning has gone into staging the Southend 'Moonlight Colourthon' event to ensure not only a challenging but also a pleasurable experience.
Chalkwell Park is one of Southend's primary areas of parkland and is a mature and pristine area maintained by the Local Authority. The park covers an area of around 26 acres and holds the coveted Green Flag Award and is the perfect setting for our event.
Moonlight Colourthon
The Southend 'Moonlight Colourthon' route takes in the best views and scenery that Southend has to offer and will guarantee you an invigorating challenge. It sets off from Chalkwell Park at 8pm on Saturday 4th July, 2009.
The walk starts off with a lap of Chalkwell Park to get you warmed up then travels from the park and down Chalkwell Avenue to the Seafront. You will then walk along the waterfront to The Arches Cafes rising up to and past the Cliffs Pavilion where you will be able to take in the picturesque Westcliff Cliff tops with their brisk sea breezes as you walk along them.
When you reach central Southend overlooking the famous pleasure pier the route drops back down to the Seafront walking along the waters edge through to the exclusive Chalkwell Hall Estate and continues into Old Leigh with it’s quaint cottages and fisherman’s sheds.
From there you'll rise back up a gentle gradient at Belton Way and return along the beautiful cliffs at Marine Parade strolling through Leigh itself on your journey back into Chalkwell Park to the finishing gantry to collect your medal and complete the challenge!
